Sponsor and Student Letter Delivery:
Earle packed all sponsor letters that had arrived by the end of Sept. in his suitcase. Letters arriving late have also been sent to the Kathmandu office via email. Once the initial home building projects have been completed and sponsors visiting Nepal have returned to the states, the Nepal staff will begin visiting schools, delivering letters to students and collecting reply letters and photos for sponsors. As always, the weather, school schedules, holidays, political issues and now current fuel shortages will affect travel, but we currently anticipate mailing student reply letters to sponsors between late December and late January.
Earthquake Relief Fund:
Thank you to all of you who have given special donations to the Earthquake Relief Fund! We have raised over $100,000 for ANSWER students and their families. As you can see by the articles included in this newsletter the funds are being put to good use!
Benefit Concert Success:
The Benefit Concert held on September 20 raised over $12,000 to help fund Administrative expenses. This will cover more than half of the annual funds needed to support ANSWER’s office and staff in Kathmandu. A special thank you to David Lockington, Cameron Blake, Dylana Jensen and Sean Ivory for the spectacular musical performances! We also extend our gratitude to United Bank of Michigan, Mika Meyers PLC, Public Reality Radio, Stella Communications and Karlson Enterprises for their corporate sponsorships and the numerous companies and individuals who donated items for the silent and live action portions of the event. Everyone came together to make this the most successful benefit concert in ANSWER history!
